#TurksandCaicos, July 13, 2023 – The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force are investigating the circumstances which led to the discovery of a mutilated body at sea this morning.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly after 9:50 a.m., the Police Control Room received a call indicating there was a body in the water, in the Grace Bay district.  Officers from the Marine Branch and Scenes of Crime Unit arrived at the scene and retrieved the body from the water.  Conservation Officers were also present at the scene.

Following the discovery, Commissioner of Police (ag) Rodney Adams is strongly cautioning members within the public domain to desist from putting into circulation or causing to be circulated the graphic images from this morning’s find on all social media platforms.

Commissioner Adams said: “To engage in the distribution or circulation of the photographs is very insensitive and traumatizing. People need to be more sensitive and humane when using these social media platforms.  This is not something just for shares and likes, it is a life that was lost.  Please show some humanity”.
