#TurksandCaicos, July 27, 2023 – Last month, in a Zoom/video link sufficiency hearing proceeding, two brothers faced the Hon Chief Justice Mrs Mable Agyemang on separate firearm allegations. Both incidents are alleged to have happened in Grand Turk at different dates and times.

The older brother SHAQUANT ROBINSON, 23 on May, 10th 2023 was allegedly busted with a firearm and ammunition, said to have been discovered on his person while he was in Overback, Grand Turk.

Police reported that at around 7:53 p.m, officers from the Grand Turk Police Station received numerous calls that an armed man was in the Overback area, in the vicinity of Annette’s  Restaurant, brandishing and discharging a fireman.

Officers arrived and quickly apprehended the suspect, who was later identified as Shaquant Robinson. While searching the accused, officers recovered a firearm and ammunition.

ROBINSON* was arrested for: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Unlawful Possession of  Ammunition and Discharging a Firearm.

He appeared in the Supreme Court on Friday June 7 (2023) from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) video link room, as he is on remand.

Robinson was represented by attorney Willin Beliard who did not put up a challenge on the sufficiency of the evidence and conceded that the matter is a fit case for a trial in the Supreme Court.

Robinson was then committed to stand trial and is expected to re-appear in court for the Plea and Directions Hearing (PDH) in October, 2023.

If Robinson pleads guilty or is found guilty in a trial, he could go be incarcerated for 12 years at the DCR.

As for his younger brother SHAQUAZE FORBES, 21 he too had a firearms proceeding in the Supreme Court; it immediately followed his brother’s hearing on June 7,

Forbes’ matter however was adjourned to a date in late September because no attorney had been assigned his case as yet through legal aid.
