#TurksandCaicos, July 27, 2023 – A new ‘one stop shop’ for consumer information has been launched in the Turks and Caicos as the government continues on its ‘Consumer is King’ campaign. Dubbed the Consumer Information Corner (CIC) it was launched recently by the Department of Trade, Industry, and Fair Competition (DTIFC) and is available at the official website at www.gov.tc/trade.

The site was up and running when Magnetic Media checked in on Sunday and available for access at the top of the homepage. In the CIC local consumers can

  • learn their rights;
  • Lodge complaints;
  • Get access to consumer legislation;
  • See Fuel and bread basket reports;
  • Access informational Brochures and;
  • See Educational videos

A wealth of information has already been shared to the corner including videos on how to make complaints; how to deal with dishonest producers/business owners; how to get redress for faulty products and more.

Information is also included for business owners indicating what they could be fined for and educating them on appropriate business practices.

The site comes as imports to the Turks and Caicos reach extreme highs and volatile inflation causes rapid price changes. The government says this new addition to the DTIFC site is a part of efforts to enforce the TCI’s Consumer Protection Ordinance (CPO).

“The focus of the CIC is to ensure that consumers and providers that engage in business within the TCI have access to information about their rights as consumers and their obligations as providers.”
