Alleged Killer Pair Set Free

#TurksandCaicos, July 27, 2023 – On Tuesday 18th July, 2023, Magnetic Media, learned that, the Office Of The Director Of Public Prosecution (ODPP) entered a new NOLLE PROSEQUI; this time, discontinuing the joint murder proceedings against a pair of alleged killers: JAMESLY DESTINE and SHAQUANT WALKIN.

The duo was charged with the shooting death of 20-year-old, Garfield Dennie May 23, 2020 while in a vehicle on Millennium Highway, Blue Hills, Providenciales.

Dennie, who was raised in Turks and Caicos and is originally from Jamaica died in a Jamaican hospital on June 5, 2020.

Another male was struck in that shooting incident as well; said to have also been in the vehicle.

Both men had recently beaten two separate murders in separate trials and now this final joint trial against the pair was discontinued. Both accused had been on remand at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for very close to three years on homicide and firearm charges.

Principal Public Prosecutor, Clement Joseph filed the Nolle Prosequi and the matter was discontinued before his lordship, Justice Davidson Kervin Baptiste in the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

Lara Maroof Misick represented Jamesly Destine and Sheena Mair was defence attorney for Shaquant Walkin.

Destine and Walkin were released on Thursday July 20, 2023.
