#TurksandCaicos, June 29, 2023 – The tender process to purchase the Turks and Caicos new aircraft has begun in the United Kingdom.

After a spate of violence in late 2022 which ended with a double digit murder tally, the country reached out for assistance from international partners.

One promise from the UK which oversees national security in the TCI was a new aircraft for surveillance for the police.

The Government had indicated multiple times including in May after a visit to London, that the UK would secure the aircraft very soon.  Now TCIG says the tender for the maritime surveillance aircraft has been launched and is receiving good interest.

The NSC report of Friday May 16, 2023 did not give a timeline for purchase and delivery of the asset, but at this time the TCI currently utilizes a wildcat aircraft, on loan from the US, for its operations.
