Official Funeral for James Edward Fulford, Turks & Caicos WWII Army Veteran

#TurksandCaicos, June 18, 2023 – Flags are to be flown at half mast, says the House of Assembly in an official announcement that the Cabinet has agreed to an Official Funeral for James Fulford, who passed away in late May at the age of 97.

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

The death is announced of the late Mr. James Edward Fulford, the last serving member of the Ex-Servicemen’s Legion who served in the Turks & Caicos Home Guard and in the Army during World War II (1943-1945).

His death occurred on Saturday 27th May 2023 at his residence on Duncombe Alley, Grand Turk.

FUNERAL SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Official Funeral service will be held at the St. Thomas Church, Osborne Road, Grand Turk on Friday 30th June 2023.

VIEWING

His body will lie In-State at St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Front Street, Grand Turk from 11:00a.m. – 7:00p.m. Thursday 29th June 2023.

The Family will view the body between the hours of 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m., Former Members of the House of Assembly and Public Officers from 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m., His Honour the Speaker, Members of the Cabinet and the Hon. Members of the House of Assembly will view the body from 4:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. and the General Public from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m.

FUNERAL SERVICE

The body will leave St. Mary’s Pro – Cathedral and will proceed to St. Thomas Church on Friday 30th June at 9:15a.m.

All in attendance are asked to be seated by 9am.

 ROYAL VISIT 2023: James Fulford was among the special guests at a welcome reception hosted by former governor, His Excellency Nigel Dakin at Waterloo, the governor’s residence in Grand Turk.  At the reception, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who were on a Royal visit to the Turks and Caicos Islands, just this past February.  You can see Prince Edward, who has now been bestowed the title of Duke of Edinburgh, is quite taken with Fulford.
