#TurksandCaicos, June 19, 2023 – There was commotion on the streets of Providenciales this Monday morning as a body was found lying in the middle of the street. Police now say it is being treated as suspicious though cause of death is yet to be determined in the face of conflicting reports.

Officers from the Police Force and their international partners flooded the scene quickly; we are told, attempting to cordon off the grisly discovery and begin their investigations.

Our court correspondent, Wilkie Arthur was on scene immediately and got initial updates from the officers .

“The officers say there were no gunshot wounds but there was a body found on the road. They cannot say what the cause of death was [yet].”

Arthur was told by officers, who he said were communicative, that the body was a middle aged man who may have been killed elsewhere.

“The officers believed it’s a possible dump, he probably died elsewhere and was dumped on the street,” he said.

A formal police report informed that they had received the first calls around 7 a.m. and also said that there was bleeding from a ‘gunshot wound’; conflicting with on the scene accounts, also from Police.

Top brass has since reached out to all press agencies to say there is no indication of a gunshot rather a wound to the head.

After getting their accounts straightened out they described the scene for the public.

“The unidentified male is 5’ 08” ft tall, slim built, about 150 – 160 pounds, and appears to be between the ages of 18 – 25.   The body was clad only in black shorts with white stripes on one side.

RTCIPF officers arrived at the location and found the bleeding body with what appeared to be a wound to the head. The male victim was barefooted.”

Police informed at news production time they were still waiting for the results of a post mortem on the dead man to determine the cause of death. Preliminary reports indicate that they were unable to identify the victim and no missing persons reports were filed matching the man. We are told he has distinctive scars on his upper chest and a short haircut.

Any residents who believe they can identify him are asked to make a report to the police.
