#USA, May 5, 2023 – The United States Title 42 is expiring on May 11th, 2023 and as a result the Government is deploying an additional 1,500 troops at the southern border (Mexico border) to ease the pressure of the already overwhelmed border agents as migrants arrivals are expected to spike.

The Trump-era Title 42 gave the US Government the power to expel illegal migrants crossing into the country at the border, without considering their asylum claims.  Also, the title was said to be a measure to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading at the time.

Considering the high numbers of illegal migrants prior to the establishment of the title, officials are expecting a massive increase in migrant arrivals in the thousands, following the expiration, hence the deployment of troops.

These troops, who will be stationed there for 90 days, are an addition to the already 2,500 National Guard members at the border to aid the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), officers.

The troops will arrive by May 10th according to General Patrick Ryder, Pentagon spokesperson ( Pentagon is the headquarters building for the  Department of Defense), who also said that his Annecy has supported the Department of Homeland Security on the Southern Border for many years, 18 of the last 22 and every year since 2006.

The added personnel will however, not be tied to law enforcement work.

They will instead help with transportation, narcotics detection, data entry and warehouse support. They will fill “critical capacity gaps,” according to the Department of Defense.
