The SIPT Corruption, Conspiracy & Bribery Trial nearing an End

#TurksandCaicos, May 30, 2023 – Defense attorneys in the Special Investigation and Prosecution Team (SIPT) corruption, conspiracy and bribery criminal trial against four defendants, former Deputy Premier Hon. Mr. Floyd Hall, former government Minister, Jeffrey Hall and two senior attorneys  Clayton Greene and Melbourne Wilson are now into closing arguments.

A week ago, it was the closing argument on behalf of Jeffrey Hall by his lead attorney, Ian Wilkinson KC and assisted by counsels Kimone Tennant and Jamal Misick, which started the wind down of the trial which has been ongoing since December 2016.

The judge alone trial, is presided over by her ladyship the , who is judge and jury in these proceedings.

At the conclusion of closing speeches for all four alleged corruption accused the prosecution led by Andrew Mitchel KC and assisted by counsels Quinn Hawkins, Kate Duncan, and Enjaleek Dickenson on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) will address the court in their closing remarks on behalf of the Crown against each accused.

Her Ladyship will then retire to consider and return with her verdicts regarding all defendants separately, specifically pertaining to each count or charge against them.

The chief justice has promised a speedy conclusion to the protracted proceeding; but it could take from days to weeks to months to deliver on a verdict.
