Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, May 15, 2023 –  On Saturday, April 29th the group of promising future realtors took their knowledge to the field in an exciting open house exercise.

The listing – a multi-million-dollar penthouse at the Wymara Resort on Grace Bay beach currently being marketed by The Agency – provided the Mentees with the perfect opportunity to show off the best of Turks and Caicos; a gorgeous space, sweeping views of the best beach in the world, and a prime location.

Since January, the group of fourteen have met with Mentors monthly to learn the fundamentals of working as a real estate professional. This weekend’s open house allowed them to put theory into action.

Paired in teams of two, they showed the listing to a diverse group of professionals; Honourable Rachel Taylor, Honourable Kyle Knowles, Elwood & Tremmaine Harvey, Todd & Leslie Foss, Alvin Hegner, and Alonzo Higgs, who all posed as interested buyers.

“The opportunity to put everything they have learned to the test in a real-life setting is invaluable and a very important part of this program,” said Blair MacPherson of RE/MAX Turks and Caicos. Now having volunteered as a Mentor for the second time, Blair shared, “For me, it’s such a pleasure to see it all come together for them. We’re all excited to share our knowledge and skills with what might be the next generation of real estate professionals. It’s just as rewarding for us as it is for these bright young men and women.”

The Mentorship Program is currently led by two-time TCREA Ambassador, Trevor Musgrove. Its aim is to ignite interest and excitement in the real estate profession among school-leavers and college freshmen. This class of Mentees includes teens from Providenciales, Grand Turk, North Caicos, and South Caicos.

When asked how he felt the Mentees performed on Saturday, Musgrove said, “They did a fantastic job, and I couldn’t be prouder.” He continued, “The feedback they received from the buyers and their Mentors will be of great value to them as they prepare for their mock real estate exams and give thought to whether this is the career path they will choose.”

The committee of Mentors is a make-up of seasoned professionals from the country’s top agencies: Vernica Delancy of Keller Williams; Nina Siegenthaler and Lisa Lopes of Sotheby’s; Blair MacPherson of RE/MAX; and Sean O’neill of The Agency. Musgrove says the real estate industry in Turks and Caicos is growing stronger and is a rewarding career opportunity he hopes more young people will consider.

“To have access to these experienced agents who are renowned in the industry is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our teens”, said Musgrove. “My hope was that this would not only encourage interest in the career but expose our young people to the side of Turks and Caicos that the rest of the world is hungry for so they could have a better appreciation for this great country they call home. I am certain we are achieving that.”

The Mentees will have their final session next month when they sit their real estate exam and enjoy a closeout celebration.
