#TurksandCaicos, May 30, 2023 – Member of Parliament for Wheeland Kyle Knowles had strong words for those questioning his commitment to his constituency during his contribution to the National Budget debate on May 18th.

“I am here to reassure my constituents of the country at large that unlike everybody else— this is a personal endeavor for me, and I am willing to do what it takes to get the job done.” he said, in regard to the waste disposal issues in the area.

Knowles, who also lives in Wheeland, recommitted himself to finding solutions for proper Solid Waste management.

“With the continued support of my government, and as chairman of the solid waste task force, I have made significant progress with the CDB consultation. Yes it may have taken some time but we are here today.”  He stressed.

The consultation is in the evaluation stage and a solid waste professional is being sought to manage the country.

In terms of water utilities a contract has been signed to install water lines along the entirety of Tom Lightbourne Drive in weeks.

“Pumping water into tanks, unless for emergency purposes, should be a thing of the past.” He said. Other projects include:

  • Up to 50 more lights in Wheeland
  • Continuing roadworks
  • Community Parks for Phase 2

Also a major project, the continued removal of illegal settlements many of which lie in the Wheeland Constituency.

“We cannot allow our community and society to become overrun by individuals who intend to tear down what we are working hard to build.” He stressed.

Finally, he urged his constituents to take advantage of the  Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) program offered by the government which funds entrepreneurs with viable businesses.

He maintains that the budget was one that he totally endorsed as he could see the real time benefits for residents  in it.
