Jerry Springer, former Mayor and Talk Show host dead at 79

#USA, May 2, 2023 – Jerry Springer, globally known talk show host, most famous for his high rating “The Jerry Springer Show,” passed away Thursday, April 26th, 2023.

The former Cincinatti Mayor and former WLWT News Anchor and Commentator died at 79 years old, from pancreatic cancer according to longtime friend and family spokesperson Jean Galvin.

Publicist Linda Shafran says he passed peacefully at his home is Suburban Chicago.

Galvin described him as irreplaceable as he expressed hurt for his loss.

“He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on.”

Other talk show hosts spoke of Springer highly, saying how much he will be missed.

“We worked for the same company for decades. He was joyful, smart and, in his own way, a unique showman. I will miss him,” said Maury Povich, 1990’s daytime talk show host.

Springer no doubt left his mark in the television world, capturing not just the eyes and ears, but also the hearts of MILLIONS of viewers for his high energy, drama packed, unhinged show which stood out as a pacesetting production. As one of the best at television shock and awe, Jerry Springer ushered in a new genre in live TV which elicited a love-hate fan base with undeniable success.

In all of the ‘crazy’ created by guests and situations up for discussion on the show which ran for 27-years, Jerry Springer was beloved for his calming close to each program, where he ended with a simple admonition:  “Take care of yourself and each other.”
