Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett receives tourism award

#Jamaica, May 10, 2023 – Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism for Jamaica received the Caribbean Tourism Excellence Award on Tuesday at the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) luncheon in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The award was bestowed on Bartlett by Nicola Madden-Gregg, CHTA President,

He was honoured for his hard work to enable the successful establishment of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) as well as his advocacy on behalf of promoting cooperation and partnership among Caribbean countries.

Bartlett who was first given the position of Minister of Tourism in 2007, he is known for his many accomplishments and expertise in both tourism and the political bubble.

Additionally, he has represented Jamaica in the regional and international context and he currently chairs the Board of Affiliate Members of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Also, he is the first person to serve on the executive of both the public and private sector arms of UNWTO, and he served as Vice Chairman of the Executive Council representing the Americas.

Over the years, Bartlett has attained many awards such as the Travvy Awards Inaugural Chairman’s Award for Global Tourism Innovation in 2019; Pacific Area Travel Writers Association’s (PATWA) Tourism Minister of the Year for Sustainable Tourism in 2018; and the African Diaspora World Tourism Awards’ Caribbean Tourism Minister of Distinction Award in 2016, among others.
