#TurksandCaicos, May 25, 2023 – Blue Haven Resort is not happy that its property is named in a SHARK ATTACK REPORT as the incident involving an American tourist on Wednesday afternoon, did not happen near their resort and marina and did not involve them in any way, said Catherine Pentiricci, a spokesperson for the TCI Collection, owners of Blue Haven.
While the 22-year-old victim, said to be a resident of Connecticut was picked up at the Leeward Marina by first responders, which is a neighbouring property in the eastern side of Provo, according to the Police statement, Pentiricci said there was no connection to Blue Haven Resort.
“The woman was not a guest or client of Blue Haven Resort or the Leeward Marina. She was not snorkeling near the waters of our resort nor the marina.”
It is said the woman was on a snorkeling excursion.  Police informed that she was with a friend at the time of the incident.
There is also speculation about whether the young woman was attacked by a shark.  It follows the removal – on Wednesday night – by the Royal TCI Police of its original post about the shark attack which had happened earlier in the day.  Comments offered that it was a boat propeller which severely sliced the young woman and that the report by Police held inaccuracies.
The call to the Police control room on Wednesday afternoon about a woman injured in a shark attack came in at 3:07 p.m., informed Police.
Magnetic Media has learned that an investigation is now launched to determine exactly what caused the young woman’s foot to be completely severed from her leg.
Up to news publication time, there remained no warnings about or reports of any shark sightings by TCI authorities.  It is also unclear where the attack happened, except that it was in waters off the island of Providencieles in the Turks and Caicos.
Several news organisations, internationally, have now picked up on the report with the original information from the Police statement.
The Royal TCI Police last listed the American woman as hospitalised at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in serious condition.
