Invest TCI’s Business Support Unit hosted Managing Your Business Finances with Excel Training in Grand Turk and South Caicos

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, May 18^th, 2023 – April and May were busy for Invest Turks and Caicos’ newly established Business Support Unit as they hosted financial literacy workshops in the islands of Grand Turk and South Caicos.

The “Managing Your Business Finances with Excel” workshop saw thirty-seven attendees, 19 in Grand Turk and 18 in South Caicos. Attendees participated in a full day’s hands-on training facilitated by Ms. Peshina Williams, owner of Vision Financial, an Accounting and bookkeeping firm servicing the Turks and Caicos Islands. During the training, the participants learned the following:

• Introduction to Microsoft Excel
• Recording Sales and Expenses
• Cash Book
• Monitoring Inventory
• Petty Cash Management
• Float Management
• Organization of worksheets

The “Managing Your Business with Excel” Training is the first of a series of practical trainings offered by the Business Support Unit at Invest Turks and Caicos. Training participants received templates on a USB drive with step-by-step guidance on using them to manage their business finances. At the end of the training, each participant received a certificate of completion.

Commenting on the training, Anissa Adderley, Director – Business Support Unit, expressed her gratitude to the attendees and stressed the importance of financial literacy to MSMEs. “We are grateful to all the attendees who participated in the training. We hope they will implement the knowledge gained into their businesses. MSMEs are the backbone of our economy. Therefore, we must educate businesses on financial literacy. The more financial knowledge business owners have, the stronger their businesses will be. We are determined to improve financial literacy to maximize the success of MSMEs.”

The Business Support Unit will continue the “Managing Your Business with Excel” training later this year. The next training will be held in North Caicos on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023, followed by Providenciales on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023.
