Heads of Territory to attend Coronation, 12 TCI Uniformed Officers  to form part Military Personnel

#TurksandCaicos, May 2, 2023 – Her Excellency Anya Williams, Governor (Acting) and the Premier Honourable Charles Washington Misick will lead a delegation from the Turks and Caicos Islands to attend the Coronation of His Majesty, The King, Charles III on Saturday, 6 th May 2023.

This historic ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby. For the first time in TCI’s history, the territory will be represented by a Turks and Caicos Islander as the Head-of-State.

Ten (10) Turks and Caicos Regiment officers and two (2) officers from the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force will form part of the military personnel that will take part in the coronation ceremony.

This is first coronation in 70 years following the passing of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

A bank holiday will be observed on Monday, 8th May in celebration of His Majesty, King Charles III’s ascension to the throne.

H.E. Anya Williams is scheduled to leave for London on Tuesday, 2nd May 2023.
