#TurksandCaicos, May 15, 2023 – A group of over the counter (OTC) Advil Products are being pulled from Family Dollar shelves and health officials in the Turks and Caicos have also decided to sound the alarm.

The Ministry of Health and Human Services advised on Thursday May 11th, that all local suppliers and the public should immediately discontinue the sale and/or use of specified affected products

The TCIs recall was prompted after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), broadcasted a voluntary recall initiated by Family Dollar due to the products being stored outside of the labelled temperature requirements. Ibuprofen (which Advil contains) must be stored between 68 degrees and 77 degrees.

The affected products were shipped from around June 1, 2022 through March 31, 2023. In response all local suppliers should:

  • Immediately stop supplying the affected batches of the brand listed above.
  • Notify your overseas vendors.
  • Quarantine all remaining stock(s) of the identified brands for possible disposal by the Environmental Health Department.

The list of affected over the counter medication (OTC) shared by the FDA and TCI MOH include:

ADVIL 200MG TABLET 100CT;

ADVIL 200 MG CAPLET 24 CT

ADVIL DUAL ACTION 36CT CAPLET

ADVIL TABLET 50CT
