#TurksandCaicos, April 26, 2023 – It has been 13 years since the TCI Hospital first opened its doors to residents of the Turks and Caicos Islands, as the institution celebrates the milestone it also means InterHealth Canada is just over halfway into their 25 year contract.

The revamp of the country’s medical system in 2008 under the Michael Misick led PNP Administration resulted in a contract being awarded to the Canadian company to both build and run two new state of the art facilities.

The new hospitals; the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre in Providenciales and the Cockburn Town Medical Centre in Grand Turk, officially opened two years later in 2010.

The hospital is listed as the only hospital in the Caribbean that has received the Diamond Award and only hospital outside of Canada that has received three consecutive diamond awards.

Currently, the hospital has over 200 staff members across locations, some of whom featured for the anniversary under the tagline “I am TCI Hospital.”

The hospital has continued to upgrade its services with new MRI and CT scan machines being put in only months ago.

In a recent promotional video, celebrating the milestone, the hospital maintained that it remains dedicated to excellence in patient care.
