#USA, April 26, 2023 – Susan Rice is relinquishing her position as Domestic Policy Adviser of the Biden Administration after two years; she will end her tenure on Friday May 26th, her last day in office.

Rice’s stepping down highlights one of the Biden Administrations highest-profile departures.

As domestic policy adviser she managed a board portfolio, leading administration efforts to lower drug prices, damper gun violence, protect trans youth and create a response to the repeal of Title 42 which is a Trump-era pandemic immigration restriction.

Biden’s remarks were nothing short of praise for Rice.

“As the only person to serve as both National Security Advisor  and Policy Advisor, Susan’s record of public service makes history. But what sets her apart as a leader and colleague is the seriousness with which she takes her role and the urgency and tenacity she brings, her bias towards action and results, and the integrity, humility, and humor with which she does this work. I thank Susan for her service, her counsel and her friendship. I will miss her,” he said.

The President was not the only one to speak  highly of Rice.  Jeff Zients, White House chief of staff, commented on her service saying that what she has done for the public across her career is “extraordinary.”

Amid her parting, she showed appreciation for the Domestic Policy Council (DPC) and the White House in a tweet on Monday.

“I love the team @DPC and in the @WhiteHouse. There are no more dedicated public servants. I am so proud of all we have been able to accomplish together for the American people,” she said.

Ms. Rice is leaving huge shoes to fill. According to a second senior administration official, the process for Biden to select her successor will include candidates both sides and outside the White House.
