#USA, March 31, 2023The United States is once again wrestling with the gun control debate following the death of three 9-year-old students and three teachers in a mass killing in Tennessee.  Nashville police say the 28-year-old suspect who identifies as trans, used to attend the school, and planned out the attack beforehand.

The Nashville metropolitan police released body camera footage of the police officers who went into the building to confront the active shooter.  Realizing that the shooter was on the second level, viewers can see them dash up the stairs and move down a hallway.  On the way, they pass a tiny body clad in pink.   Active fire can be heard before the shooter is felled on camera by police bullets.

Video shared by the police shows the individual entering the school just before the shooting, marching past a green ‘children’s ministry’ sign with what appears to be an assault rifle in hand, and another slung across the waist.

The state of Tennessee is a permit less ‘carry’ state.

This means you can carry a handgun openly or concealed if you are 21 years or older and legally eligible to possess the gun.  The state does issue permits if residents so choose and have passed a one-day safety course.

Guns are, however, not allowed to be carried in schools.

You may also possess rifles, shotguns, or handguns without a permit.  These laws were amended in 2021, one of the most violent years for gun violence in the US on record.
