#TurksandCaicos, March 13, 2023 – After a two-year competition hiatus, Louise Garland Thomas sprinted to the top of the medal table of the 2023 Inter-High Track & Field Championships with 53 medals to win the athletics meet.

The pause in sports was due to the unprecedented impacts of COVID-19, as well as its threats to public health. Now that student athletes are free to show off their athleticism, they brought their A game in a fierce battle for the win.

The Eagles of Clement Howell were out of the blocks early, leading the three-day competition on both day one and day two, but as with any good sports challenge, there was an upset.

Providenciales’ Louise Garland Thomas was in third place behind Clement Howel and Marjorie Basden High for the majority of the meet until the final day when they shot ahead with 18 gold medals, 22 silver and 13 bronze.

The rules measuring top execution were switched up this year according to the Sports Commission who says that the title will go to the team with the most gold medals, Olympic style.

Clement Howell was second with 16 gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze medals. Third was to Majorie Basden High of South Caicos, HJ Robinson High of Grand Turk was fourth and Wesleyan Methodist, also in Provo rounded out the top five schools.
