#USA, March 31, 2023 – Donald Trump, the Former US President, is expected to surrender to authorities following his indictment, a first ever occurrence for the US. A New York jury voted to charge Trump on Thursday; Trump says he will surrender on Tuesday.
The former president had been drumming up fears of an imminent arrest for weeks prior to the announcement,
Specific charges are still being kept private, but the case involves money that Trump paid to Stormy Daniels, an adult entertainer, months before his successful election as President of the United States in 2016.
Prior to receiving the cash, Daniels had indicated that she was going to give a tell all account regarding her relationship with the then presidential hopeful. The payment, recorded as a legal fee, is being investigated as ‘hush money’ and a possible campaign violation.
Micheal Cohen, the former president’s Attorney, who was involved in the debacle pleaded guilty to campaign violations regarding the situation in 2018.
Trump who is running for office in 2024, has denied any sexual contact with Daniels and says he is completely innocent.
