#TurksandCaicos, March 27, 2023 – Residents with uncollected stimulus cheques from last year’s Price Inflation Stimulus will have another chance to claim the government awarded $1000 as Cabinet approved the reprinting of stale dated cheques from the Price inflation Stimulus Part I on March 15th.

The Stimulus had been announced in July 2022 It was the third paid out by the PNP administration and part of a $16 million inflation package.  That package was created to act as a buffer for residents against extreme levels of food and general inflation in the country following supply chain issues caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic and exacerbated by the Russia Ukraine Invasion.

Desperately needed, the money was paid out beginning August 10th with a six-month period within which residents could collect their cheques at the Treasury.  Lines to collect the payouts were extremely long especially in Providenciales where residents morphed into rowdy crowds.  Not even a name-based system could stymie the crowds at the Treasury and arguments broke out in the crush of people.

Despite all of that, some residents have been still unable to cash in on the benefit and the cheques became stale dated on February 2, 2023.  The cheques were paid out using the list from a February 2nd $500 stimulus meaning $1000 cheques would have been automatically written for those who received a $500 payout.  Now the government says residents who missed it for whatever reason will have six more months to collect the money.
