#TurksandCaicos, March 20, 2023 – A convicted child rapist will go to jail but be back on the streets before the girl he attacked celebrates her 22nd birthday.

In four years after assaulting a child, the 39-year-old Bahamian man, Lopez Keno Levar Williams, was sentenced in the TCI Supreme Court on March 17th for Assault by Penetration.

The sentencing comes after a November 2020 report from the then-thirteen-year-old victim who Williams had attacked.  Williams was found guilty in January 2023 after which he was granted bail and was put under watch three days a week until his sentencing.

Under the Sexual Offences Ordinance (2020), if a person over 18 sexually assaults a child they can be imprisoned for up to 14 years.

Williams, though, will be out of prison before his 45th birthday and according to TCI law, it is likely he will now be added to a growing list of men on the sexual predators register.
