#TurksandCaicos, March 16, 2023 – In a month and a half, the TCI will take a delegation to witness the crowning of a king.  The May 6 Coronation of King Charles III will be a globally historic and epic event unravelling in the United Kingdom with world leaders gathered in the one spot, in a show of support to the Monarch.

Magnetic Media asked for a reveal on the delegation slated to represent the Turks and Caicos Islands, however, that official list is not yet completely compiled. What we do know, with a reply coming from the Communications Directorate of the Office of the TCI Premier, is that His Excellency, Nigel Dakin, current Governor will not be attending in his capacity as Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Deputy Governor Anya Williams will lead the charge at the historic event.

Dakin explained that he specifically engineered for Her Excellency, Williams, to attend the event, which precedes the Joint Ministerial Council, an annual convening for British Overseas Territories.

Kimo Tynes, Press Officer in the Premiers Office confirmed the arrangements and brief on the Premier’s itinerary.

“Immediately following the coronation, the Premier will meet with other leaders of the British Overseas Territories in what is expected to be a productive JMC. [It] will be over several days and will cover several topics with shared interest amongst the leaders and the British Government.”

What those shared topics will be Tynes did not say, but for the Turks and Caicos’ part, National Security especially Border security, will certainly be on the table as it continues to bleed millions for reparations.

The Premier also made a decisive promise at the most recent State of The State address to fast track constitutional reform for the country with the PDMs support.

This may mean the Opposition Leader will have a seat on that outbound UK flight as they present a United front to the British, but that has not been confirmed.
