#TurksandCaicos, March 6, 2023 – A massive 48 percent increase in enrolment was the result of the Government’s free tuition offerings at the TCICC last year. The announcement came during the launch of College Month which the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College is celebrating under the theme “Community, Connection, Collaboration.”
Building on this increased interest Dr. Candice Williams, President of the Community College said the events for this year had been ‘carefully crafted’ to increase the positive visibility of the school. There will be a countrywide campus tour as the family islands get their own satellite campuses for the first time. There will also be stakeholder meetings in Providenciales.
Rachel Harvey, PR Officer explained the monthly events which included:
Social media drive using the hashtag #IamTCICC
Open Day events to showcase the college’s offerings.
Grand opening of satellite Campuses in Middle and North Caicos
TVET Maritime Stakeholder engagement session
Walk/Run in Grand Turk
Personality/Job matching by the Business Faculty.
Trash to Treasure competition for primary school students and teachers
Alumni Interaction sessions
College Library Book Drive and more
Board Chair, Dr. Barbara Armbrister maintained that the TCICC was well on its way to becoming the Institution of choice for tertiary level education in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
“The era of the TCICC is for the dreamers, for what we can become. It is for parents who want to build a society where Turks and Caicos Islanders are the pick of the litter,” said Dr. Armbrister.
She maintained that the College was shaping TCI society by offering higher education to those for whom there was never an opportunity and this would in turn birth,’ grassroots leaders.’
