#UnitedKingdom, March 6, 2023 – UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has created four new government departments to deliver on his promises to residents.

“The changes will ensure the right skills and teams are focused on the Prime Minister’s five promises: to halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists and stop the boats.” a release from Sunak’s desk said

The new departments are

  • A Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, which will be responsible for lowering energy bills and inflation as the country faces what may be its worst energy crises in decades.
  • A Department for Science, Innovation and Technology to improve public service and grow the economy.
  • A Department for Business and Trade to support by backing British businesses. Over the past year the value of the pound has floundered against the US dollar hitting historic lows.
  • A Department for Culture, Media and Sport will to build on the UK’s position as a global leader in the creative arts.

Sunak took office in late 2022 after a shame-faced exit by Boris Johnson and an ill-fated stint by his immediate predecessor for former political rival, Liz Truss.
