#TurksandCaicos, March 23, 2023 – Only 81 days into 2023 and already, nearly 1000 illegal or irregular migrants have been caught trying to break into the Turks and Caicos Islands by boat.  In the latest attempt, 30 females were aboard, another 155 males were also confirmed as passengers on the ill-fated voyage.  A total of 185 people willingly exploited aboard yet another failed Haitian smuggling attempt; now being processed and soon to be sent back home to Haiti.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Marine Branch stopped the overloaded vessel.

Magnetic Media, as have many others, did see the photos of the crush of people on the wooden boat; said to be intercepted near West Caicos.

Arlington Musgrove, the Minister of  Immigration and Border Services said the migrants were provided with masks; one step in protecting against an unchecked Cholera outbreak in Haiti; the republic is also reeling from violence and political upheaval.

This eighth interception pushes the 2023 total for the number of illegal migrants caught by authorities to 956.
