#TheBahamas, February 11, 2023 – According to Bahamas’ Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Michael Darville, the new Nurses and Midwives Bill will not tolerate misconduct.

He added that the professional responsibility of the advanced practice nurse, nurse intern, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and midwife are fully outlined in the bill.

“You can’t give bad service to our public.  This is going to be addressed because nurses must be admonished to operate at their highest code of conduct.  It is important that we continue to hold the professions and ensure that professionalism is expected at all times,” the minister said.

Darville noted that the aim of the bill is to improve the way nursing is practiced by promoting professionalism.
