#TurksandCaicos, February 2, 2023 – If you’ve ever been to Island Fish Fry then chances are you’ve had a hearty helping of Froggie’s famously delicious Lobster Mac and Cheese along with all the other quintessential Turks and Caicos foods; cracked lobster grits, spicy seasoned deep fried fish, sweet potato bread and more.

The TCI Tourist Board hosted event has been a boon for vendors giving them an opportunity to display their wares, show off their skills in the kitchen and craftiness has even flowed to beverages to the absolute delight of hundreds of visitors and locals that attend each week.

One Vendor, Albert ‘Froggie’ Williams, the mind behind the famous Lobster Mac and Cheese told us what the event has meant for him.

“We’re celebrating ten years of Island Fish Fry and it’s been awesome,” he told us, maintaining that it has drawn serious attention and brought good business for entrepreneurs.  “It has drawn lots of attention to restaurant owners, myself at Froggie’s, it has boosted sales and continues to do so.  We have a lot more clients, people come to check it out for your meals and atmosphere.”

Froggie, as he is lovingly called by everyone, is one of the earliest vendors to have participated in Fish Fry a decade ago.

“As one of the first vendors at the Fish Fry from the inception, I just wanna say thanks to the founders of the event.  It’s now very famous and people now actually book vacations around Thursday for Fish Fry.”

Froggie expressed that the vendors were doing an awesome job in promoting the island through Fish Fry and they were committed to continuing that legacy.

“Thanks to the Tourist Board, Froggie’s is here and we will continue to do our part” he vowed.

Ralph Higgs, Former TCI Tourist Board Director, under whom the event began told us,

“I feel proud of the event but more so many of our local businesses and artisans that have found themselves at Fish Fry— there are many—who have been able to find their footing because of the event”

Both Higgs and Froggie’s sentiments are a testament to the attitude surrounding Fish Fry from both the organizers and the vendors and supporters, an air of thankfulness for the event which has come to define Thursday nights and act as a springboard to success for talented islanders.
