Wakanda Forever star, Letitia Wright receives Honorary Doctorate, Takes home country Guyana by storm

#Guyana, February 9, 2023 – The Guyana-born actress and Black Panther star, Letitia Wright was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters and the Arts from the University of Guyana, after being welcomed home on the 27th of January.

Upon arrival, the star was met by celebratory applause, drumming, and steelpan music.

“I am just thankful for the welcome. You guys went above and beyond to show me love,” Letitia said, overwhelmed with emotion.

Wright has starred in several films including ‘Death on the Nile,’ ‘Avengers End Game,’ ‘Urban Hymn,’ and most recently replaced the late Chadwick Bosman in ‘Wakanda Forever’. First Lady Arya Ali sang Wright’s praises, noting that she was an inspiration to “every little child in Guyana with a dream.”

The actress also received a proclamation from President Irfaan Ali and was given the Key to the City of Georgetown.

“I am proud to be Guyanese. I have always celebrated the fact that I am Guyanese. I celebrate that more than anything,” Wright explained.
