#TurksandCaicos, February 15, 2023 – On February 7, 2023, a Government delegation including Washington Misick, TCI Premier; Rhondalee Braithwaite-Knowles, Attorney General and various ministers toured the new terminal building of the South Caicos International Airport which is soon to be renamed Norman B. Saunders Sr. International Airport.

It means, after long years of waiting, residents of South Caicos are slated to have their airport terminal complete by April.

The airport terminal was rendered useless after a fire gutted it in 2020, but there were structural issues plaguing the building long before.

The Sharlene Robinson, PDM Administration began the process of rebuilding it, awarding a contract but the progress was sluggish.  A newly elected PNP Administration vowed early on, they would see the airport terminal – XSC – to completion by the end of the financial year.

Plain white walls greeted the delegation during the recent tour of the construction, but the Government says finishing touches are currently underway.
