Prince Edward and Countess Sofie visit the Bahamas

#TheBahamas, February 24, 2023 – Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex and Forfar, and his wife, Sofie the Countess Wessex, will visit Nassau from Thursday, February 23, to Friday, February 24.

During their visit, the royal couple will attend a Gold Award Ceremony for the Governor General’s Youth Award (GGYA), formerly known as the Bahamas Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Prince Edward, who is also the Chair of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Awards Foundation, which has funded five projects in The Bahamas, will visit three of the projects with his wife during the two-day visit.

They will also meet and engage with volunteers and young people participating in the GGYA.

In addition, the Governor General, Sir Cornelius A Smith, and Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Phillip Davis, will also meet the couple during their short trip.

Before they visit the Bahamas, the royal couple will visit the British overseas territories of the Turks and Caicos and the Cayman Islands. Their first stop will be to the Cayman Islands, where it’s revealed that Countess Sophie will officially open the annual Agriculture Show in the country on Ash Wednesday, February 22, by ringing the cowbell. Then they will visit the Turks and Caicos from February 22 – 23.
