#TurksandCaicos, February 9, 2023 – Residents of the capital will benefit from roadworks to fix the dilapidated state of at least one bridge according to Jamell Robinson, Minister of Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development.

The news came in a video addressing the closure of the Church Folly bridge, in Grand Turk which has been shut down since December.

The clip showed the deplorable state of the bridge which is cracked in many areas and generally unsafe. It will have to undergo construction in order to make it a viable crossing once more. Thankfully, the contract has been awarded and work will get underway soon.

Previous requests for quotations had gone unanswered by contractors. The upgrades will open the bridge to two way traffic, and eventually under an entire new bridge will be built.
