100 Black Men Turks and Caicos Chapter

#TurksandCaicos, February 11, 2023 – Activism can come in many forms, from a single person, or a group of like-minded people.  One such group is the Turks and Caicos Chapter of the 100 Black Men organization.

Part of a worldwide initiative, the group makes it their mandate to uplift young black men and get them interested in areas of health, education and more.  Black History Month is about celebrating those who have contributed and continue to contribute to the upliftment of Black people, globally, and the Turks and Caicos’ chapter of the 100 Black Men organization fit the bill perfectly.

It is one of the only international chapters of the organization and has been active for more than a decade since its inception in 2007.  Premier Washington Misick is an honorary member, other notable members include E Jay Saunders, Deputy Premier; Otis Morris, Minister of Home Affairs; Arlington Musgrove,  Minister of Immigration and Border Control; Jamell Robinson, Minister of PPID as well as a number of the Turks and Caicos’ men who have taken on the mantle over the years.

The organization focuses on four key areas under the theme, Four for the Future: Education, Mentoring, Health and Wellness and Economic Development”.

Last year, the health and wellness aspect was on full display when the TCI chapter conceptualized a Father’s Day wellness week, which saw the Atlanta chapter, not only flying in and donating thousands of dollars in medical equipment, but going on a multi-day men’s health drive, which educated the older and younger about listening to their bodies, not being afraid of investigating their health concerns and providing check-ups for dozens of Islanders.

All the chapters, including the Turks and Caicos’, work on uplifting black men, globally and locally providing an invaluable service to the African diaspora worldwide.
