#TheBahamas, February 6, 2023 – In true Hollywood style, Bahamian Shaunae Miller-Uibo, elite 400-metre gold medalist and her husband, Maicel Uibo, decorated decathlete from Estonia on Saturday announced the coming of her first child.

With a breathtaking Bahamian ocean scape as their backdrop, the Uibos let the images do the talking, telling the world of their exciting news.

The photographs captured the couple locked in mesmerizing gaze, other times smiles beaming as the two leggy Olympians stood, chicly attired on the flawless white sands against the pristine waters of the Atlantic with an unmistakable baby bump poking through a flowy, scissor-cut kaftan donned by the new mommy-to-be.

The news is an indication that we won’t be seeing the sprint star defending her title at this year’s edition of the World Athletics Outdoor Championships women’s 400 meters (m), to be held in Budapest, Hungary, in August.

Thousands are sending their congratulations, including Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis. “Congratulations to Shaunae Miller-Uibo and her husband on the exciting news of their first child!  As parents, Ann and I know the joys and challenges ahead; wishing you all the best on this new journey,” Davis said.

The twenty-eight-year-old has secured several wins and titles throughout her athletic career. She won the 400m Olympic title at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and again in 2021 at the 2020 Toyko Games.

In 2022, Shaunae Miller-Uibo won her first world title in the 400m in Eugene, Oregon.  Following last year’s World Championships, Miller-Uibo said she planned to drop the 400m and focus on the 200m going into the 2024 Paris Games.

In addition, Miller-Uibo won a 200m bronze at the 2017 World Championships and was the world’s fastest woman in the event in 2019.
