#TurkandCaicos, January 25, 2023 – Keniel Duvervil and Andre De Souza, both young men picked up by police during the hotbed of violence that was 2022 will appear in the Supreme Court this Friday January 27th.

Duvervil was brought into custody in relation to the disappearance of Eder Ettiene on July 28.

The missing persons alert turned into a murder investigation on August 6th when Ettiene’s body was found by police.  At the time officers had said that while Duvervil was a suspect in the man’s disappearance, that he may not have been connected to the murder.

De Souza on the other hand, a former wanted man from Blue Hills, is a Jamaican citizen and was one of the first persons arrested in the multinational gang crackdown in late 2022.  At the time it was described as a significant arrest as he was a person of interest in gang-related serious criminal activities at a time when gang violence in the country was at an all-time high.

The 31-year old was found with weapons and drugs and was charged with firearm-related offences on October 10, 2022.

Police had indicated that De Souza was still under active police investigation for suspected gang related activities and other criminal offences.

Both accused men are slated to appear on Friday before the courts for Plea and Directions Hearings (PDH) where the accused are allowed to enter a guilty or not guilty plea and determine whether a trial will go forward.
