#TurksandCaicos, January 15, 2023 – A US media report on some of the worst and most dangerous experiences for tourists in 2022 has fingered the Turks and Caicos Islands; lining the country up alongside Mexico; Jamaica and several other high crime destinations.

The report compiled by Fox News and titled: “Tourists in exotic tropical destinations victimized by crime, travel mishap horror stories in 2022” referenced carbon monoxide poisonings and shark attacks in The Bahamas, bodies floating up on the beach in Mexico; violent robberies and sexual assaults in Jamaica and frightening plane flights in Hawaii.

For the Turks and Caicos part the report said, “The tourist haven of Turks and Caicos also experienced a surge in violent crime in 2022.  The U.S. State Department has issued a Level 2 advisory for Americans traveling to the island nation—  and has added a “C” crime indicator warning there is a “moderate threat” in the country due to violence and the presence of organized crime.”

Also referenced was the cruise fire which occurred in Grand Turk described by Fox as a “horrifying scene.”
