InterCaribbean Airways joins ATLA

#TurksandCaicos, January 11, 2023 – In a major step forward for the local airline InterCaribbean Airways has joined the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ATLA).

Started as a labor of love in 1991, InterCaribbean now services 27 destinations and is looking to expand both destinations and its fleet in 2023.

José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director and CEO of ALTA said they were are very happy and proud to welcome interCaribbean, lauding their commitment to ‘offering an essential service to millions of people’

“With so many territories, air transport is essential, not only for tourism that generates more than 15% of the jobs and GDP of the countries, but also to provide humanitarian service, transport essential goods and provide the population the most efficient and safest means of transport,” he said.

The Association said its mission was to coordinate the collaborative efforts of its members to develop a safer, more efficient and environmentally responsible air transport in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

ATLA currently boasts a membership of 160, including 48 airlines and dozens of other industry partners including Bahamas Air, Caribbean Airlines and Copa Airlines.
