#TurksandCaicos, January 15, 2023 – Her Ladyship, Mabel Agyemang is not going anywhere and the progressive work she started in Turks and Caicos Islands three years ago when initially appointed, will continue, fully sanctioned by the Governor of the territory in the days ahead of the Legal Year opening service for 2023.

Chief Justice will remain in The Turks and Caicos as head of the islands courts for another three years after her contract was extended to 2026.  A native of Ghana, Agyemang took up her office in 2020.  She had extensive experience in her profession before coming to The Turks and Caicos having worked across Africa in Eswatini, Ghana and Gambia.

Governor Nigel Dakin, who announced her appointment in 2020 also confirmed the extension of her contract, doing it in an Instagram post.

Dakin described the former court of appeal justice as,  a reformer as he some notable initiatives of her first three years, the Mediation Center, new regulations for JP’s and the continuing SIPT investigation.

Dakin described her as ‘low key but very effective.’

Agyemang replaced Jamaican, Margaret Ramsay-Hale, who moved on to the Cayman Islands in January 2020.
