Ceiling-shattering Journalist, Barbara Walters, dies at 93

#USA, January 11, 2023 – Veteran Journalist Barbara Walters who served more than 60 years in the media industry passed away on December 30th last year.

The highest-paid news anchor ever during her earlier years and known for her historic interviews, Walters sat across from some of the most famous figures in history during her time including Cuban Communist Leader Fidel Castro, the first James Bond actor Sean Connery, White House intern Monica Lewinsky, Russian President Vladimir Putin and a host of others. For US Presidents and first ladies, an interview with Walters was almost an unofficial requirement.

Growing up around celebrities her whole life, the Journalist was a hard one to impress and was known for asking tough questions making her incredibly popular with viewers. Her career spanned some of the most notable American media houses including NBC, CBC and ABC News and saw her host shows including Today, the ABC Evening News, 20/20, and The View.

Credited with breaking multiple glass ceilings and paving the way for women in media she was the first female news anchor in the US.

Walters moderated presidential debates, covered one of the most notable American tragedies: 9/11, and received an Emmy and an honourable Emmy for her ground-breaking work as well as 11 Emmy nominations.

She retired in 2014 and was 93 years old when she died.
