Winner at the 2022 Humanitarian of the Year Awards

#TurksandCaicos, December 16, 2022 – “We cannot measure our humanity, but we can act on it Humanity is the glowing center in all of us.”

The words of Sivil Dean-Morgan, the Turks and Caicos’ Humanitarian of the Year for 2022 and guest of honor at this year’s Humanitarian awards. Her words set the tone for the night as alongside her several others were honored for their actions that have served to better life in the TCI.

Junior Humanitarian of the Year 2022 went to Jeffery Nicolas, an avid environmentalist helping to clean up the TCI and with whom Magnetic Media has had the pleasure to speak.

The Lifetime Achievement Recipient was Pastor Antoinette Talbot, while NGO of the Year went to Food for Thought, a program which provides breakfast to Turks and Caicos school children. Included in their roster of activities are healthy diet food fairs.

The Winner of the Cheryl Astwood-Tull Award was  Mrs. Emily Saunders of South Caicos  and the People’s Choice Award went to  Andre Rupert Gibson of North Caicos.

Community Stars, a recent addition to the awards focus on several persons from each Island and this year’s crop including:

Grand Turk – Rotary Club of Grand Turk and Widwina Ariza

South Caicos – Honorable Emily Saunders, Camiko Lewis and Layton Harvey

North Caicos – Queenell Missick and Brian Naqqi Manco

Middle Caicos – Adelaide Handfield-Taylor and Albert Robinson

Providenciales – The Sisterhood TCI, Soroptimist Club, Bianca Harvey-Joseph, KimChar Village, Dorean Williams, Bishop Bryant Cox and Rosemary Duncanson

The annual awards gala, hosted by the TCI Human Rights Commission, is in its fifth year.
