#TurksandCaicos, December 19, 2022 – Revolutionary is how the TCI Hospitals are describing the new upgrades to their diagnostic imaging capabilities with the addition of a new CT Scanner the GE Revolution Maxima.

In a recent press release Dr. Denise Braithwaite Tennant, CEO of the TCI Hospitals explained that as well as improving the quality and swiftness of the medical process when the install was complete it would make patient experience more comfortable as well as deliver less radiation.

“The old CT would scan very fast, 1 to 2 minutes and your scans are done. With this technology the scans are done in half the time; a matter of seconds. With the artificial intelligence embedded in the software, the resolution [on] the images are even brighter for our radiology team.”

The CT is the second half of a two part project which included breaking apart the old MRI Station to put in a new state of the art SIGNA Pilot  MRI machine back in August. That machine is now fully operational and equipped with artificial intelligence. That Signa Pilot MRI which is the first of its kind in the Caribbean is now joined by the GE Revolution CT machine which has artificial intelligence as well. The GE Revolution not only reduces manual labour for employees, it creates more accurate positioning and readings.

The upgrades are long awaited for Turks and Caicos residents as there have been several incidents where the old machines were insufficient including insufficient weight capacity forcing residents to seek treatment overseas.
