#SouthKorea, December 14, 2022 – International K-Pop group BTS will be going on hiatus for the foreseeable future as the members prepare for their conscripted military service.  The seven member boyband is made up of men from South Korea Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.  By law, all able-bodied South Korean men must serve in the country’s military for 18-21 months.

BIGHIT Music, the label that BTS is signed to made the announcement on October 17th in Japanese, Korean, English and Chinese via twitter.

The company said it was the ‘perfect time’ and maintained that the members of BTS are honored to serve.

“Since the creation of BTS over ten years ago, the band has risen to international success, broken records, and catapulted K-Pop into the global stratosphere.  BIGHIT has focused on the milestone moment when it would be possible to respect the needs of the country and for these healthy young men to serve with their countrymen, and that’s now.” the company revealed.

BIGHIT said the members of BTS were not breaking up but were looking forward to reconvening  around 2025 following their service commitments.  BTS have outsold every artist on the globe two years in a row, freezing out Drake, Adele, Beyonce and other superstars for the top spot and were awarded Global Recording Artist Of The Year.
