#TurksandCaicos, December 5, 2022 – As the Turks and Caicos Islands approaches the expiry date on its Covid-19 vaccine mandate, set for December 31st,, Carnival Cruise Line passengers are showing sustained interest in being allowed into the Turks and Caicos islands.

Of the dozens of questions posed to Carnival Cruise Representative, John Heald via Facebook regarding Grand Turk, the majority centered around the country’s current mandate which requires all visitors be fully vaccinated for COVID in order to enter the country.

Inquiries ranged from the specifications of the mandate to outright expressing hope that it would be dropped soon.

Carnival Cruises brings over 1 million guests to the Grand Turk port each year, a major boost to the GT economy.

Edwin Astwood, Opposition Leader and former minister of health is on record calling for an end to the mandate.  His latest appeal was mere weeks ago claiming it did not follow the science.

Nonetheless, TCIG officials have held firm in upholding the travel entry requirement indicating that when they do decided to drop the mandate it will be for the good of the people of the Turks and Caicos rather than out of a desire to entice visitors.
