#StKittsandNevis, December 19, 2022 – An unnamed individual travelling from Tortola has been arrested by the police in St Kitts and Nevis for possession of drugs being transported in toothpaste tubes.  Customs officers reported that at least nine tubes of Colgate toothpaste were seized at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on December 12 on suspicion of containing cannabis.

The officers contacted the Anti-Narcotic Unit, which examined the contents of the luggage and took them into custody.  The police have also asked persons with information to contact the Basseterre Police Station’s Criminal Investigation Department to support the ongoing investigation.

The recent memorandum of Understanding signed by the BVI government and CARICOM will help increase security at the border through the implementation of an Advanced Passenger Information (API) system.
