The Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has officially released the dates of its 2023 regional examinations.

The examination body noted that the CSEC exams slated for January would begin on January 4, followed by the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) on May 4. The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) will begin on May 8.

In addition, the Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence (CCSLC) exams will begin on June 19 and assessments for the 2023 Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ)  will be conducted between April and September, with specific dates to be determined in collaboration with participating Ministries of Education.

Timetables for the exams are now available on CXC’s website.

CXC also said the “concessions for School-Based Assessments (SBAs) will be maintained for 2023 CSEC candidates who commenced SBAs during the 2021/2022 academic year.”

Adding that, “concessions for 2023 CSEC candidates will once again include the removal of Section 1/Situation Responses from CSEC® Modern Language orals.”

However, for 2023 CAPE candidates and 2024 CSEC candidates, there will be a return to the full SBA requirements.

The coronavirus pandemic had affected the CXC examinations resulting in the closure of schools across the region and causing exam dates to be pushed back in 2022 due to concerns that students were not ready.
