#USA, November 17, 2022 – About 67,000 Airwick aerosol sprays and 123,000 pairs of shoes are under recall from their manufacturers because of safety hazards.
The aerosols were flagged after they missed a key component in packaging that stops the cans from exploding while being used. Manufacturer Reckitt initiated the recall and says the Airwick New Day Fresh Linen and Fresh Water Aerosol Air Fresheners are being recalled due to injury and laceration hazards after the company realized an entire batch had left production without corrosion inhibitors.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says without the essential part the can has the potential to corrode and rupture, in essence exploding, potentially causing injuries or leakage posing a risk of skin or eye damage . The cans were sold between March and September this year.
Customers are advised to immediately stop using the product, wrap them in several layers of tissues and dispose of them
Clarks Americas on the other hand has three styles of their navy blue ‘Breeze’ sneaker under recall citing risk of chemical exposure. Prolonged contact with the Breeze Ave, Breeze Shore and Breeze Step shoes could result in exposure to benzidine and/or dimethoxybenzidine, both of which are toxic.
The shoes were sold in the Spring/Summer 2022 season and in women’s sizes 5 to 12 at shoe stores across the US and Amazon.com. They feature blue uppers and white soles. Customers can visit Clarks USA.com for refund details and should stop wearing the shoes immediately.
