#Grenada, November 16, 2022 – Air Canada and Sunwing Airlines will return to Grenada at the Maurice Bishop International Airport.
According to the Grenada Tourism Authority, Air Canada will be in operation at the airport on Thursdays and Sundays, and Sunwing Airlines on Sundays only.
CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, Petra Roach expressed satisfaction with the new changes and noted that travel should increase over the next few weeks.
“The Canadian market is our fourth largest market with an average length of stay of 12 days. Arrivals from that market were significantly impacted as Canada was one of the last markets to fully open back up for travel. We are pleased that the Canadian government has now relaxed restrictions on non-vaccinated Canadian citizens to travel,’ she said.
Dennis Cornwall, Minister for Infrastructure and Physical Development, Public Utilities, Civil Aviation and Transportation, who spoke at the arrival ceremonies, announced a major refurbishment project at the Maurice Bishop International Airport to help meet the upcoming travel demands.
Cornwall adds that improvements will be made to the airship to create more space for aircraft landing.
Seat capacity from Canada will be 27,745 for 2023; this will be a 52 per cent increase over 2019.
