#Dominica, October 6, 2022 – The Commonwealth of Dominica and the Dominican Republic have always been mistaken for each other and for this reason Dominica has decided to rebrand.

This new initiative involves the categorization of Dominica’s tourism department into five pillars: Adventure, Health and Wellness, Agrotourism/Cuisine, Water Adventure, and Entertainment and Events.

They believe that this will eliminate confusion in the marketplace and help establish Dominica’s identity. CEO of Discover Dominica Authority, Colin Piper said that in order to minimize this error the department would need to be creative and “tell a story that resonates with the public”.

The new initiative also includes signing an agreement with MMC Development Ltd to build a new International Airport, which they hope will be completed by 2025. Anthony Haiden, CEO of MMC Development Ltd describes this contract as the biggest one in Eastern Caribbean History. This project is to be funded by the Citizenship by Investments Program (CBI).

Piper also mentioned that he hopes that Dominica will soon be associated with an “outdoor gym and spa” which will require updates to the island including the expansion of Secret Bay’s villas by 2025.
